Aimee Sung

Born and raised in Hong Kong, Aimee Sung is the violinist and founding member of the Dawning Quartet. She is on the violin faculty of the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the University of Hong Kong.

She graduated from the Indiana University Bloomington School of Music on the Hong Kong Sir Edward Youde Memorial Scholarship for Overseas Studies. She was among the last batch of students of the late Russian violinist, Nelli Shkolnikova, and she studied baroque violin with Stanley Ritchie. She was the recipient of the Dean’s Award and Faculty Award. Upon graduation, she undertook further studies with Chen Xiang and masterclasses with Michael Frischenschlager, Paul Roczek and Alex Kerr.

Sung has performed on concert stages worldwide, including Austria, Italy, Sweden, the United States, Japan, mainland China, and her performance was broadcasted on Radio Television Hong Kong Radio 4 and Teledifusão de Macau. Sung has appeared as soloist with Chung Chi Orchestra of the Chinese University of Hong Kong and Hong Kong Medical Association Orchestra. Other concert appearances included performances at Mozarteum Festival in Salzburg, Hong Kong Arts Festival, Le French May Arts Festival, HKNGA Music Festival , “Sound of Art” Concert Series of the Art Museum of Hong Kong, Musica del Cuore music series and CUHK Concert Series. As an active chamber musician, sung was invited to be a guest violinist and collaborated with RTHK Quartet, La Réunion Musicale, SIU2, among others. She was also invited to perform in a piano trio recital in Osaka, Japan, to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the city of Kawanishi.  She also served as guest concertmaster of many orchestras.

Her piano quartet, Dawning Quartet, enjoys presenting a diverse range of piano quartet repertoire to the local audiences. Recent concerts engagements included invitations by the Hong Kong Composers’ Guild, performing in the “New Generation Concert” and “SOUND_IMAGination” Concert.

As a committed educator, Sung is the recipient of many outstanding teacher awards. Many of her students have won awards in international competitions, such as Mimas International Violin Competition in Italy, Singapore International Music Competition, Singapore Raffles International Music Competition and Leman Lake International Violin Competition. Her students furthered their musical studies at leading music schools in the United States and Europe, including Indiana University, Manhattan School of Music, Cleveland Music Institute of Music, University of Houston, Hochschule für Musik Würzburg and Royal Northern College of Music.

Sung has also served on the jury of many local competitions and gave masterclasses and chamber coaching. Her students have been frequent winners of the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival and many of her students have attained FTCL and distinctions in LTCL and ATCL diplomas of Trinity College London. Sung is an experienced string coach. She taught in many school orchestras, including St. Paul’s Co-educational College, St. Stephen’s Girls’ College and St. Paul’s College.

Karen Sung

A graduate of the New England Conservatory under the tutelage of Gabriel Chodos, Karen Sung holds a Master of Music degree in piano performance on the Hong Kong Jockey Club Music and Dance Fund Scholarship. Sung received her early training at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) with a Bachelor’s degree in music. Her former teachers include Katherine Huang and Eleanor Wong.
An active performer, Sung has given recitals and concerts in the United States, Germany, Austria, Macau and Hong Kong. Her appearance as the soloist of Clara Schumann’s piano concerto has earned critical acclaim and enthusiastic audience response. Other concert appearances included performances at the Saarburg Festival, Mozarteum Festival in Salzburg, CUHK Concert Series, “Sound of Art” Concert Series of the Art Museum of Hong Kong, Musica del Cuore, RTHK 4 Concerts, among others. Sung was invited as a guest pianist for the CD recording of Chung Chi Choir in celebration of the 50th anniversary of CUHK music department.

Sung was awarded a full scholarship to study with the world-renowned pianist Dang Thai Son at the Kirishima International Music Festival in Japan. She was also the recipient of the AIA Foundation Music Scholarship awarded by the Asian Cultural Council, which supported her study at the Aspen Music Festival in Colorado.

As an avid chamber musician, Sung is the pianist and founding member of Dawning Quartet. She has been giving concerts in Hong Kong with the quartet regularly since 2014, presenting a diverse range of piano quartet repertoires to the local audiences. Their performance and interview have been recorded for the RTHK 4’s program. They were also invited by the Hong Kong Composers’ Guild to perform in the “New Generation Concert” and “SOUND-IMAGination” concert.

Also a committed teacher, Sung has taught at the Hong Kong Summer Music. She is the Fellow of the Trinity College London and has been invited as an adjudicator for various piano competitions. She is currently on the faculty of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.

Peggy Sung

Acclaimed for her artistry and versatility, Peggy Sung is an award-winning pianist who maintains a vibrant and diverse performing career. In recognition of her outstanding achievements on the international stage, she was awarded a formal commendation for her contributions to arts and culture by the Government of Hong Kong.
Her musical journey began under the tutelage of Katherine Huang. Having achieved early distinction in numerous competitions both locally and across Asia, she continued her professional training under the reowned pedagogue Eleanor Wong at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts as a recipient of various scholarships, including the Hong Kong Jockey Club Music and Dance Fund. After graduating with first-class honors, Peggy sought further artistic refinement at the University Mozarteum Salzburg under the guidance of Peter Lang—himself a protégé of Friedrich Gulda and Géza Anda.

A laureate of numerous international competitions, Peggy won top prizes at the Pacific Piano Competition in Canada, the International Russian Music Piano Competition, and the Missouri Southern International Piano Competition in the USA. Her talent has been further recognized with the Janet & William Schwartz Scholarship Award at the International Keyboard Institute and Festival in New York, as well as a joint fellowship from the Asian Cultural Council and the AIA Foundation to attend the Aspen Music Festival.

Deeply committed to the art of collaboration, Peggy’s work in chamber music was notably recognized by the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs when she was selected for the “New Austrian Sound of Music” program. Her success is complemented by multiple prizes in chamber music competitions across Bulgaria, Germany, and Greece. As a soloist and chamber musician, her performances have taken her to concert stages worldwide, including Austria, Bulgaria, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Slovenia, Thailand, and the USA.

Beyond the stage, Peggy is a sought-after collaborative pianist and répétiteur. Her professional foundation in this field was established in Hong Kong, where she served as an accompanist at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts Junior Department for six years. Now based in Salzburg, she works intensively with the legendary soprano Barbara Bonney and has collaborated with celebrated artists and pedagogues including Lisette Oropesa, Alois Brandhofer, Mario Diaz, Bernd Valentin, and Reinhard Seifried. Peggy is frequently engaged as an official accompanist for international competitions and masterclasses, and works as a répétiteur for distinguished Salzburg institutions including the Camerata Salzburg, Philharmonie Salzburg, and Mozartchor.

Jasper Sung

Tenor Jasper Sung was a member of the Thuringian Opera Studio. Since 2021, he has appeared as a guest soloist at the German National Theatre Weimar, Theatre Altenburg Gera, Theatre Erfurt, and Theatre Nordhausen, performing roles such as Licomede (Achille in Sciro), Seppel (Der Räuber Hotzenplotz), Anton (Die Zwillingsbrüder), Pong (Turandot), Triquet (Eugene Onegin), Hérault de Séchelles (Danton’s Death), Ari (The Comedian Harmonists), and Aminta (Euridice).
Jasper Sung studied at the Franz Liszt University of Music Weimar, where he studied with Professor Michael Gehrke. Prior to this, he studied voice at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts with Nancy Yuen, supported by the Boltini Trust Scholarship, and pursued postgraduate studies at the Mozarteum University Salzburg with Professor Mario Diaz, funded by a scholarship from the Hong Kong Jockey Club Music and Dance Fund. He further refined his artistic training through masterclasses with Siegfried Jerusalem and Helen Donath at the International Summer Academy Mozarteum Salzburg, where he participated as a scholarship holder of the Foundation of Arts & Music in Asia.

His repertoire includes roles such as Count Almaviva (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Jupiter (Semele), Capitano (La Giuditta), Idamante (Idomeneo), Basilio and Don Curzio (Le nozze di Figaro), and Eisenstein (Die Fledermaus). At the Hong Kong Art festival coorperating with the San Francisco Opera, he sang the roles of Stone and the Eunich in Bright Sheng’s opera Dream of the Red Chamber. In 2015, Jasper Sung was a successful participant in Radio Television Hong Kong’s Young Music Makers, and as part of the Artistic Internship Scheme of the Hong Kong Arts Development Council, he performed the role of William in Alain Chiu’s opera Fish in the Hand with the Hong Kong New Music Ensemble.

In the concert repertoire, he has gained extensive experience in performances of Mozart’s Requiem with the Chung Chi Choir of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Bach’s Christmas Oratorio under the direction of Helmuth Rilling, Britten’s The Company of Heaven with the Hong Kong Oratorio Society, Charpentier’s Te Deum at the Hong Kong Philharmonic, and as Evangelist in Bach’s Christmas OratorioSt Matthew Passion and St John Passion in various concerts throughout Germany.

Ivan Wong

Wong Tak Wai Ivan is a graduate of Boston University College of Fine Arts with a Master of Music degree in piano performance. He was a student of the legendary pianist Anthony di Bonaventura. He received music training at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in music under the tutelage of renowned pianist Yim Wan. Wong also studied piano with Alexandre Solopov and music theory with Dr. David Cubek at the McGill University.
Wong’s playing has been described by Vanessa Latarches as “an intense and honest approach with respect for the music… which exhibited excellent concentration and love for music.” He was selected to perform in the Brandywine International Piano Institute at the West Chester University of Pennsylvania. He has performed in masterclasses for Edward Auer, Gustavo Romero, Dr. Corey Hamm and Lee Trios, among others. He was the recipient of the Lo Kui Chuen Scholarship awarded by Chung Chi College.

Wong was invited by Musica del Cuore to give piano duo recitals at the Citibank Plaza. His collaboration with SingFest as the official pianist for the vocal masterclass and concert by Prof. Franz Huijts received audience acclaim. He was invited by Chung Chi Choir to perform Brahms’ Liebeslieder Walzer under the baton of Prof. Carmen Koon. In 2025, Wong participated in a piano marathon hosted by International Association of Collaborative Musicians (IACM) and French May to commemorate the centennial of French composer Erik Satie, the complete performance of Vexations by 169 pianists successfully set a new Guinness World Record.

Wong has worked in the Performing Arts Department of the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority. He is also an active writer. His music reviews were frequently published in the Hong Kong Economic Times and Criticspo. His article written for the New Vision Arts Festival has been included in the “Collection of Art Criticisms” published by the International Association of Theatre Critics (Hong Kong).

Besides performing and writing, Wong is also devoted to piano teaching. His students were admitted to prestigious music institutions worldwide, including Royal College of Music London, University of Cambridge, University of London, Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Dance de Lyon, the Hong Kong Baptist University Academy of Music and the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.

In addition to teaching, he was also invited as an adjudicator for piano competitions in Hong Kong, Guangzhou and Shenzhen. He is the Fellow of the Royal Schools of Music (FRSM) with Distinction.
